No. The building is currently leased to an adult day care tenant through July 31, 2026, so renovations cannot begin until the property is vacated. The tenant's lease remains active through July 31, 2026. Construction and renovation work will begin after the building is vacated. We will continue to provide updates to the community as the project progresses, inshaAllah. Additionally, the building must receive a new occupancy permit to operate as a masjid. This requires inspections and potential upgrades related to fire safety, electrical systems, HVAC, occupancy limits, and building code compliance before the facility can open for congregational use.
Our current goal is to welcome the community into the new masjid before Ramadan 2027, inshaAllah.
Yes, inshaAllah. South Side Musalla will continue operating for regular daily prayers after the new masjid opens. Jumu'ah prayers will transition to the new masjid. Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan will be held at the new masjid.

Our goal is to create a welcoming masjid for the entire community. Women will have space in the main prayer hall behind the men. A separate sisters' area will also be available for additional privacy. We strive to accommodate different needs while maintaining unity and accessibility.
Many community members have expressed a desire for a full-time imam, and we recognize the importance of long-term religious leadership and mentorship. Our current priority is completing the masjid facility and establishing sustainable operations. A dedicated Imam Fund will be created alongside the Building Fund. As long-term support grows, we will continue evaluating the feasibility of hiring a full-time imam, inshaAllah.
Yes, inshaAllah. Phase 1 is focused on creating the essential prayer and community spaces needed to open the masjid. Additional improvements will be considered after Ramadan 2027 based on community needs and available funding. Future plans may include expanded community spaces and family-focused amenities.
